You are rather vague, but it sounds like it is probably defaulting to the
"root" site/directory.  This does happen from time to time, in fact I had to
write a script and put it into the root site because the calling script did
not recognize the vhost that it belonged to.  It was basically a Unix thing.

If you ever were to test a 3.x or earlier browser (MS or Netscape), you
would see the same thing... it does not see the vhost, it goes only to the
root.  Consider that and see if it could be the problem.
