Download the executable installation from one of the four mirrors listed on http://www.sambar.com/

Copy your existing Sambar 5.3 directory structure to another location for backup. For example, if you have Sambar 5.3 installed under C:\Sambar, you could right-click on the directory, choose copy, right-click on the C: and choose paste; you would edit up with a directory called C:\Copy of Sambar.

Now run the Sambar 6.0 install executable in install right over the top of C:\Sambar. All of the new files (binaries, docs, admin pages, messages, etc.) will overwrite the old files/get added to the directory structure.

You'll end up with Sambar 6.0 installed in the existing 5.3 directory structure and a backup of 5.3 in "Copy of Sambar" in case you feel you have to fall back.

Now that version 6 production is out, I plan to make the jump from
version 5.3. What is a good step by step for this upgrade. I
downloaded the zip file for the Windows version. I'd like to make
the upgrade as painlessly as possible by using the same /sambar
directory to contain everything. How's this approach sound?:

1). Rename current sambar directory to something like sambarold.
2). Unzip ( or I guess run the install routine??) using the sambar
directory name I currently use.
3). Copy everything in the previous docs directory to the new one.
4). Copy everything in the previous config directory to the new one.
5). Close eyes and start program. :D

It this a safe and sound procedure?
