It will work, but I usually do it like this:

1. Shut down Sambar
2. Rename the old Sambar directory to something like sambar-old
3. Install the new Sambar in a directory with the same name like the old one
4. Copy the config files from "sambar-old" to the new installation
5. Start Sambar

If you got any files like docs, mail, logs and other stuff you'l like to keep ind the
Sambar directory you have to copy those from "sambar-old" as well. That's a very good
reson for putting as mutch as posseble outside the Sambar directory.

Upgrading from 5.3 to 6.0 you may have to upgrade your config files. Some of the files
like security.ini have some new lines in 6.0, and you won't get them if you just use
your old files. It won't stop Sambar from running but you migth miss something - ex.
you will have problems running IRC if you don't have these new lines in security.ini:

# Network IRC Server Accept (IP addresses)
[ircaccept]
* = Allow all clients

I did it the hard way - used the new files and put my old setup in line by line.
