It worked well in a intranet environment and well enough for an Intranet server. Then Jesper Hoy added a lot of features that made Simple DNS a fully compliant DNS server. He changed the name to Simple DNS Plus and distribution to 14-day trialware. After the 14 days, the software must be purchased to remain functional. I see Jesper has further broken down the licensing to $79 for up to 25 zones and $149 for unlimited zones. In the past, I found Simple DNS/Simple DNS Plus fairly solid, but could not justify the cost because BIND 4.x and 8.x ports for Windows were freely available and I was comfortable with editing zones by hand (vs. a GUI).
