There's definitely some chance this scanner is supported by ricoh2.
Last year we found three more models are supported by this backend, so SP204 might also be compatible.

This scanner is not known to work with sane-backends-1.0.29. However,
for scans via a network connection, it might work via the escl backend.
Alternatively, you could use the separately maintained airscan backend,
available at

  https://github.com/alexpevzner/sane-airscan

Note that both backends assume the device uses the eSCL (aka AirScan or
AirPrint scanning) protocol.

@yu-stas Is there any chance this device might (be made to) work with
         the ricoh2 backend?
