This shows that the problems some people are having with this scanner are not related to the backend. It's more likely the combination of USB interfa= ce, scanner and USB driver that causes these problems. To answer your question about the scanner capabilities: You can use 48bit c= olor, the backend however calls this 16bit (this is per color channel, so with RGB you end up with 3*16 bits). I don't have a 1650, but from the command set a= nd the debug output I've seen, you should also be able to select up to 3200dpi= - not that this would give you better scans, but you should be able to select it.=20 Karl Heinz On Mon, Feb 11, 2002 at 09:49:39PM -0500, f.duncan.m.hald...@worldnet.att.n= et wrote: > I saw the discussion on scanning transparencies on > Epson Perfection 1650 Photo. >=20 > I'm using RedHat 7.2, with a 2.4.17 kernel and > modules usb-uhci.o with scanner.o and sane-1.0.7, > xsane-0.84. >=20 >=20 > Scanning negatives works fine up to 2400dpi which is the > highest setting I see on xsane-gimp. >=20 > Actually, I believe this scanner can do 3200dpi and "48bit color"; > are these features that the epson-sane driver does not=20 > yet support?=20 >=20 > Duncan > duncan_haldane(AT)users.sourceforge.net > _______________________________________________ > Sane-devel mailing list > sane-de...@www.mostang.com > http://www.mostang.com/mailman/listinfo/sane-devel --=20 Karl Heinz Kremer k...@khk.net PGP Key at http://www.khk.net/download/khk.asc EPSON Sane Backend: http://www.khk.net --zhXaljGHf11kAtnf Content-Type: application/pgp-signature Content-Disposition: inline -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: PGP 6.5.8 iQCVAwUBPGmP+h4KmkKPBVxtAQELDwP/XJ82ScC4Ls1IbxbBpONznXe/YBqkDL2X jSStAYZh3YbdyvyYw//KmaKx6iNMGDnyu7buh6832S4FEhTiHy9t3Mv3vFYCovlN y0yI6p/7ljEYwFms+VEsTnw1bxystqgJLcB8gWjadIjTgbC6m9Mczi5PzVaCTQfF 2kW08hMYKnU= =l3+t -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --zhXaljGHf11kAtnf--
