This is a *3+ Month Contract position*. POSITION: BUSINESS ANALYST III General Description of Business Analyst - Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs. Formulates systems to parallel overall business strategies. Experienced with business process reengineering and identifying new applications of technology to business problems to make business more effective. Familiar with industry standard (including Legacy, Core, and Emerging technologies), business process mapping, and reengineering. Prepares solution options, risk identification, and financial analyses such as cost/benefit, ROI, buy/build, etc. Writes detailed description of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify computer programs. - Prepare and document Functional and Technical Specifications for reporting and data warehouse work. Assist with business warehouse/intelligence support and enhancements. Develops RFPs. Assist in deployment and management of end-user reporting tools and platforms. Work with IT and business project teams to understand reporting and data warehousing requirements and propose solutions. Document and provide knowledge transfer to the rest of the Enterprise Reporting Team for all solutions. - Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs. Formulates systems to parallel overall business strategies. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Familiar with relational database concepts, and client-server concepts. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision; typically reports to a project leader or manager. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FURTHER DEFINING BUSINESS ANALYST LEVEL 3 8 or more years of experience, relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, independently performs a variety of complicated tasks, a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS/JOB DESCRIPTION FOR THIS POSITION 1. Help gather user requirements and perform analysis to implement a new work planning/time tracking software package. 2. Help coordinate work plan time tracking, maintenance, analysis and reporting using a project management tool. 3. Help monitor, maintain and track issues and risks across multiple projects to ensure effective resolution or escalation. 4. Prepare and maintain documents, work with internal financial entities to ensure budget information is current and accurate, review and understand the metrics to be collected for internal and external reporting needs, compile and report project actuals. 5. Assist in coordination activities; schedule, document, track action items of team meetings. Administer initiative change control. 6. Participate in review and acceptance of deliverables, collect and compile reviews comments, verify disposition of comments in revised documents. 7. Develop and/or provide input to development of initiative processes procedures, guidelines, and presentations. 8. Provide input to and develop presentations and work products with minimal guidance *MINIMUM SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS (MANDATORY)* 8+ years experience writing technical documents including business requirements, policy, procedures, designs, business cases, and project plans 4+ years experience working on an information technology project in a technical or semi-technical capacity. 2+ years experience creating and maintaining a resource loaded project work plan that includes task dependencies and resource time tracking Graduation from an accredited college or university. * * *PREFERENCES* 2+ years experience developing presentations and documents for executives 2+ years experience working on projects with the State of Texas government programs 2+ years experience working on an IT Project employing IBM Rational Tools, Websphere, DB2, in a distributed environment 2+ years experience using Project Workbench, Clarity or Microsoft Project. 2+ years experience performing a team lead or management role.
