Job Description

Expected Skills: Able to manage complex work efforts; may have advanced
education; must have recent industry experience with K12 systems in State of
North Carolina with knowledge of USED federal grant management. 

 

Description (including, but not limited to):

.         Responsibility for the successful completion of end to end project
work, including all work products 

.         Oversight of projects comprised of multiple deliverables,
including delegation and coordination of tasks 

.         Responsibility for creation and management of the integrated
project plan, execution of the project plan, project status, meetings, scope
changes, risk and issue tracking/mitigation, coordination across project
teams, etc. 

.         Negotiations internal and external to the project teams 

.         Managing scope, resources, timelines, costs/budget, quality,
communication, and procurements to meet the goals of the State 

.         Development and execution of training and education on standard
project management requirements and methods, facilitating project governance
and reporting, and creating models to improve business decisions 

.         Efforts typically include extensive changes to existing
functionality or the implementation of new applications and/or

.         technology 

 

Working under the direction of the DPI Project Management Office (PMO), the
Temp Contractor shall be responsible for managing and administering all
aspects of a State IT project funded through a federal grant for the client,
which shall include but not be limited to the following deliverables and
duties:

.         Annual Project Report to US Department of Education (USED) 

.         Monthly Project Status report to USED (written and verbal reports)


.         Weekly project status reporting to DPI PMO and State EPMO 

.         Monthly conference call with USED personnel 

.         Monthly briefing to the P20W Council on project status 

.         Monthly Project Financial Summary meeting 

.         Biweekly conference call with P20W technical team plus recurring
technical meetings as needed (potential for Daily Standups at key points in
project lifecycle)

.         Weekly update of P20W Microsoft Project file (via Project Online
site Touchdown) 

.         Weekly meeting with various P20W workgroups and committees 

.         Weekly meeting with CEDARS team 

.         Meetings with the Data Management Group as needed 

.         Frequent coordination with the CLIENT PMO Manager and EPMO Project
Management Advisor responsible for State IT project oversight and reporting
with occasional updated to DPI's CIO when requested 

.         Leading all partner sectors and vendors in planning grant through
completion 

.         Identifying, tracking and managing the project budget 

.         Identifying, managing, communicating and resolving project issues 

.         Proactively disseminating project information to all stakeholders

.         Identifying, managing, resolving and mitigating project risks 

.         Ensuring the solution is of acceptable quality 

.         Proactively managing scope to ensure only what was agreed is
delivered, unless changes are approved 

.         Monitoring work performance and escalating at risk deliverables 

.         Performance reporting and measuring to assess project progress,
whether deliverables produced are acceptable and taking corrective action to
bring project in line with plan 

.         Other actions as assigned or requested.
