Should have good desktop technical skills, good troubleshooting and analytical skills, familiarity with tools such as MS Access/Excel, LUA Buglight, Process Monitor, other. * * * Job Name: NC - IT Desktop Engineer Location: Charlotte NC Start Date: Jun-14-10 End Date: Dec-31-10 Primary Skills: Desktop # of Years Required: 4-6 Secondary Skills: Windows Active Directory # of Years Required: 4-6 *Job Purpose/ Description:* • Primary responsibility is to support client software engineering, packaging, and distribution in a complex environment • Responsible for providing escalation support for desktop incidents and problems • Responsible for providing client engineering support for desktop software deployments • Directly responsible for desktop solutions and products including hardware standards for desktops, notebooks, PDAs (e.g., Blackberry devices) and related peripherals, operating systems, core builds and standard shrink-wrapped software such as Microsoft Office. • Develops short-term strategies and standards for desktop solutions. • Provides 3rd level support for desktop solutions. • Develops and implements infrastructure solutions in support of the desktop environment that provide value-added services and enables TIAA-CREF to meet industry-best-practices for management and security (e.g., Virtualization solutions, anti-virus, personal firewalls, notebook data encryption and notebook data backup). • Provides technical support to business application development groups. • Interfaces with Architecture team regarding the ratification and implementation of new Architecture standards. • Designs, develops, and engineers technology solutions of the greatest complexity to meet business application requirements. • Leads the design, development, engineering, and translation of complex business application and engineering business requirements into viable technical plans and projects. • Serves as SME in all aspects of delivering technical solutions for IT Engineering owned applications and tools. • Leads technical assessments of hardware, software, tools, applications, firmware, middleware, and operating systems to support business operations. • Performs requirements gathering, initial engineering design, platform/environment integration and evolution planning to support highly reliable, available, scaleable, and cost-effective computing. • Provides technical consultation and direction on application design, architecture and system performance, and evolving technologies. *Tasks and Responsibilities:* * Engineer and test software packages, analyze failed deployments, remediate packages as needed * Provide 3rd level Incident and Problem support * Provide engineering support for client software deployments * Gather customer requirements for virtual desktop needs, translate them to technical solutions and implement. * This includes gaining an understanding of network protocol and port needs • May be responsible for supervising more staff in project capacities. • May be required to coordinate small numbers of staff in the execution of projects. • May have involvement during strategic planning and budget cycles to leverage knowledge and anticipate technology transformation potential. *Required education/experience:* • BS / MS or technical institute degree / certificate in Computer Science or the equivalent combination of education, technical designations and work experience. • More than 7 years of related experience in IT functions. • Excellent knowledge of IT engineering and its role in supporting business applications. • Serves as point of escalation for complex issues. • Responsible for developing and executing project plans, as well as coordinating groups of IT staff. -- Regards, Shankar 248-522-6879 Technology consultanst inc -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "SAP ABAP" group.
