Location: *Boston, MA* Duration: *6 Months* Need to focus on WPF, Design patterns and Unit Testing, in that order *Position Description* Design and development of new components and features for an existing C# .NET application built with .NET 2.0. The new development will be on .NET 4.0. This application is used for customizing clinical content for medical decision support and utilization management. The work envisioned has a significant amount of design and development encompassing GUI, Business and data tiers. The ideal candidate will bring a senior level of software development experience and skill, excellent analytical abilities, excellent organization skills, excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and an open mind. *Specific responsibilities* - Contribute to the software design and development of a C# .NET application. - Participate in requirements gathering, design, programming and unit testing for assigned tasks. - Produce appropriate documentation for features implemented. *Required Skills * - 10+ years of total software development experience, with demonstrated success in implementing complex software systems. - 5+ years in .NET development - 3+ years with C# - Knowledge or experience with Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF). New UI will be developed using WPF. - Knowledge or experience with LINQ. - Good knowledge of object oriented design, design patterns, and programming techniques. - Good knowledge of the MVC design pattern (or variants such as MVP or Model View View Model) - Experience with NUnit or similar unit testing framework. - Understanding of modern software architecture principles and development processes. - Excellent written and oral communication skills. - Ability to work independently. The expectation is that the engineer will be able to receive a statement of objectives and high level direction and be able to figure out the details of what needs to be done technically, as well as be able to clearly communicate the technical vision to his/her peers. *Desired Skills* - Experience with .NET 4.0 - Experience with SOAP/Web services. - Healthcare industry experience is a plus. - Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum/XP/Lean and techniques such as Test Driven Development is a plus.
