| Duties & Responsibilites : | The Senior Business Analyst (SBA) provides hands-on analytical leadership in driving requirements gathering sessions and facilitates and validates solution designs by working with internal subject matter experts, external clients and development team architects to achieve superior solution designs for our products.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts requirements gathering, requirements review and design review meetings with product managers, domain experts and technical architects.
- Applies senior-level functional and business analysis skills to the requirements gathering, requirements analysis and functional specification processes.
- Insures accuracy and completeness of requirements, analysis and specification deliverables through client meetings, both internal and external.
- Insures simplification of proposed solutions to meet requirements including emphasis on superior product usability and UX design.
- Using senior-level analytical skills identifies and fills gaps in domain requirements and proposed solutions.
- Facilitates productive interaction between domain experts and technical resources.
- Writes detailed functional requirements and participates in the analysis and validation of solution specifications.
- Facilitates ‘trade-off’ analysis as it relates to scope, complexity and time-to-market.
- Validates solution value with product management teams.
- Clarifies and resolves specification issues as they arise during the development process.
- Evaluates business requirements for clarity and feasibility.
- Creates user stories and other scenario documents to marry requirements to value propositions.
- Creates process flow diagrams, entity diagrams and other artifacts that support the analysis process.
- Acts as the chief liaison between the business teams and the technical teams.
- Works with product management team to insure that solution deliverables meet requirements.
- Leads teams on the resolution of escalated software or application issues.
- Mentors resources in developing their analytical and abstraction skills.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- BS/BA or equivalent experience in computer science, informatics or operational engineering.
- Seven or more years of experience in solution design and or functional analysis in a commercial software development environment (or insert other or additional type of work environment).
- 1 or more years experience leading and facilitating technical discussions
- 1 or more years experience writing requirements and functional specifications
- Software application experience required.
- Client facing experience is a plus.
SKILLS:
- Exceptional analytical skills
- Strong communication, presentation and writing skills
- Exceptional abstraction, hierarchical thinking and simplification skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate details and concepts at appropriate level for audience.
- Detailed knowledge of business processes
- Ability to learn new domains quickly.
- Healthcare domain knowledge a plus.
- Able to negotiate multiple perspectives into the highest value result.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Knowledge of fundamental entity relationship concepts
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle and common SDLC methodologies
- Knowledge of commercial software company operations
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Project management skills a plus.
- Solution architect experience is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Normal office conditions; works in Pittsburgh office.
Travel 5-15%.
