*Oracle Database Administrator*

*Petersburg, VA 23805*

*1 year’s contract*



*Mandatory Requirements:*

      i.        Have at least eight (8) years of Oracle development
experience.

     ii.        Possess certification for Oracle 9i, Oracle 10g and Oracle
11g.

    iii.        Demonstrate a level of expertise in a variety of database
technical services, including but not limited to:

1.     Oracle PL/SQL.

2.     Ellucian Banner.

3.     Data warehousing.

4.     SQL Loader.

5.     Oracle Forms & Reports.

    iv.        Possess expertise in the following but not limited to:

1.    Advanced knowledge and experience with 11g, and the respective
management packs.

2.    Advanced knowledge of secure file transfer protocols.

3.    Knowledge of automated scripting tools for Oracle, SFTP, andWindows
processing.

4.    Knowledge and experience with OracleWebLogic Server.

5.    Knowledge and experience with application integration technologies.

6.    Knowledge and experience with Active Directory

7.    Knowledge and experience with security and network components.

8.    Knowledge and experience in creating scripts to integrate Oracle
scripts withWindows OS and other Third party tools.

     v.        The contractor shall have experience in supporting the
following systems:

1.    Ellucian Banner

2.    Nelnet

3.    Argos

    vi.        Database Security Functions:

1.    Adhere to the State’s and College’s security policies and procedures.
Ensures change management is followed across all technology resources.

2.    Ensure applications and processes developed enforce the State and
College’s security policies and protect the College’s data assets.

3.    Create and implement plans for systemsecurity using a variety of
technologies to provide data security and auditing functions for mission
critical systems.

4.    Maintain security and integrity of data access policies, standards
and methods.

   vii.        Configuration Management:

1.    Communicate with College staff to ensure requested changes are
understood, documented, and tested in accordance with appropriate SDLC
methodologies.

2.    Document changes to applications and procedures.

3.    Perform component level testing to ensure user objectives have been
met.

4.    Monitor Ellucian / Banner and Oracle patches, upgrades, and
enhancements and ensure local modifications remain in compliance.

5.    Develop the database management system interfaces with other data
processing units.

  viii.        Disaster Recovery and Backup Functions:

1.    Perform database maintenance activities to include backups and system
monitoring for production, reporting, and various test instances.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, provide user assistance and
support.

2.    Develop and maintain scripts and perform and monitor backups for
mission critical servers.

3.    Troubleshoot database connectivity and backup issues working with
vendors, developers, users, project managers and operators.

    ix.        Database & Application Support:

1.    Create and modify SQL*Plus scripts to manage the operation of the
college’s information systems.

2.    Maintain detailed documentation on procedures and scripts used to
automate and perform database management functions.

3.    Provide cross-training and assist the College’s technical and
functions staff with resolution of Banner and Oracle issues.

4.    Coordinate special assignments, upgrades and performance issues with
College technical staff.

5.    Assist System Administrators with database issues / errors and assist
functional users and programmers with SQL queries and tuning.

6.    Provide on-call support after hours and on weekends.

7.    Troubleshoot problems related to availability of data to system
users, space, database software, data flow and data storage / access.

8.    Manage, migrate and debug application software as it applies to the
Oracle database.

     x.        New Technology

1.    Research, lab test, document and make recommendations to the TO
Manager on a variety of new database related technologies that could be
implemented. Provide recommendations about the migration and upgrade paths
for various systems.

2.    Design and assist with the implementation of data warehousing
technologies.

3.    Coordinate the installation and implementation of database management
system software and related software tools with vendors, other data
processing staff and system users.

    xi.        Coordination Meetings

1.    Hold status meetings with OIT Management on project(s) status.
Provide Oracle and other application business function expertise whenever
required.

2.    Attend internal RBC staff meetings as requested with network team,
project managers, business users, developers and staff level management.

   xii.        Deliverables.

1.    Personnel assigned in this capacity will not be changed out without
prior written approval from the college.

2.    Reports

a.    Project Reports, as needed and assigned to a project team.

b.    Weekly status reports. At the conclusion of each week summarizing:

·         Assigned work efforts and status of those efforts.

·         Emergency work efforts.

·         Proposed activities for the upcoming week(s).

·         Hours worked. This shall be a detailed task driven report.

c.    Incident report. This shall immediately follow any emergency work
efforts.
