Job Title: Java Application Architect Work Location: Herndon, VA
Duration: 6 + Months * Responsibilities: * • Defines architecture requirements and performance standards to meet or exceed management and customer specifications. • Design, develop, and debug web-based software solutions, with a focus on Java, API's/ back-end services and relational database technologies. • Provide technical guidance to development teams that include analysts, developers, and testers, and share your extensive knowledge of architecture and best practices. • Collaborate with peer architects for delivering technically competent solutions. • Identifies and directs resolution of complex hardware/software interface issues. • Review development work products and Develop detailed technical designs based on the integration of business rules and partner systems. • Troubleshoot and triage issues – both during development and active production processing. • Help the team to identify initiatives to improve processes and product. • Report metrics and elevate risks and issues. • Serves as the primary customer interface to resolve problems and ensure requirements are met on a timely basis. • Provides guidance and work leadership to junior leveled software engineers, and may have supervisory responsibilities. • Implement processes and methodologies to maximize productivity. • Effectively communicate and resolve issues with cross functional groups to escalate issues or changes in scope. • Communicate clearly and concisely with clients, customers and management. *Qualifications:* • 10+ years of progressive IT experience developing plans, gathering/analysis, and system design and software development; • 7+ years developing solution architectures and strategies across multiple architecture domains (infrastructure application, data , integration and security) involving multiple of the following technologies: web technologies, service oriented architecture, integration/middleware; • Must be proactive, adaptive, and flexible to quickly resolve issues and blockers. • Should have experience working with external teams, production operations, program management and clients to lead and facilitate short-term and long-term actions to plan and deliver releases. • Should be able to communicate quickly and clearly with a large stakeholder group, and provide an organized and calm response to throughout the release process. • Should be able to work independently and proactively to drive initiatives forward. • Strong development skills in Java/J2EE with 10+ years of experience • Strong understanding and development experience in Web Services (REST and SOAP) • Experience working with relational databases (ORACLE, MYSQL) • Experience in the Linux/Unix environment • Spring, Spring boot, Hibernate • Experience with Atlassian JIRA, Confluence a plus • Experience in the telecom or cable industry a plus • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to present to large and small groups. • Working experience with NOSQL databases (Couchbase, MongoDB) a plus • Agile/Scrum development methodology desirable.
