Dear Sapac-ers,
On November 8, several south asian groups with a common agenda of pluralism, communal harmony and equality for all people will be meeting to discuss how we can work together to promote these shared values both here and in south asia (specifically India). It is the first time a broad based coalition of south asian groups in Chicago have come together to address these issues. Please come and support this venture. The time and place will be announced at a later date.
On October 18, there will be planning meeting for the Nov 8 forum. At the planning meeting we will do the following:
- Review a charter of principles that details our shared values.
- Discuss the format of the Nov 8 forum
- Review flyers and databases
We believe that this process of developing a set of shared values and building a coalition around it will, in the long run, prove to be a broad based national movement of people of south asian descent working together for peace and equality. It is important we have your input early in the game. Please come and share your ideas on October 18.
