Jackson Blvd., 11th Floor, Rm. 11013 DePaul University, Chicago, IL (Downtown Campus*) Join featured speaker Pushpika Freitas, executive director of MarketPlace: Handiwork of India (www.marketplaceindia.com), for a discussion of how women are empowered through small business development and trade.� Freitas has more than two decades of experience organizing disadvantaged women and artisans.� She developed the first cooperative of women artisans in Mumbai and has developed a successful business importing fairly traded goods from her native India.� Freitas will discuss the empowerment of women who became involved in trade - changes women have made in their life, how they challenged tradition and more.
