Position:Java Developers
Location:Tallahassee, Florida
Duration:7+Months Contract

Description of Major Duties & Deliverables
FDLE requires the services of an Applications Developer with technical
knowledge and
experience in designing, developing and deploying public facing
websites and backend
solutions for the Firearms Purchasing Program and MECOM Projects. The
person in
this role is considered an expert in all phases of applications
programming and quality
assurance and must have an understanding of the standard best business
practices in
programming and development. The person must also have some business
insight and
previous experience with websites used by the public.

Responsibilities include but may not be limited to the following:
? Providing high quality, high performance and low maintenance
websites
? Providing structured programming of business processes and
requirements in
the firearms purchasing department for mental competency
? Developing well documented systems, applications and programs
? Following agency programming standards
? Contributor on project planning and implementation
? Contributor to activity definition, activity sequencing, activity
duration estimating
? Contributor to risk identification
? Contributor to issue identification and tracking
? Contributor to deployment planning
? Quality assurance planning related to programming
? Effective communications with team members and management
? Effective communication with project stakeholders
? Participant in activities with FDLE staff required to support the
project
? Provide weekly status reports to the project manager
Mandatory Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
? Previous experience as a application programmer on successful,
enterprise level
information technology projects
? Experienced in working in a team environment developing software,
testing and
deploying public facing websites
? Ability to follow detailed project plans and activity assignments
respecting (scope,
schedules, processes and work breakdown structures)
? Experience in developing system and user documentation;
? Experience in delivering the project tasks on the agreed upon
schedule, to the
correct technical specification (i.e. defined to meet user
requirements)
? Experience with software development tools specifically JAVA, Oracle
in a
Linux environment
? In depth knowledge and experience of working with Spring, Hibernate,
Struts2,
Maven, Oracle, SQL, XML, Tag Libraries, JSPs
? Experience in integration of multiple systems or applications
? Experience with MS Office suite
? Self motivated and able to take direction from higher level staff
? Effective communications and collaborative skills;
? Effective oral and written skills;
? Follow test plans for unit and system tests. Documentation of
results.
? Create documentation based on corporate documentation guidelines.
? Provide support for production systems.
? Provide technical mentoring to the IRM staff.

Preferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
? Knowledge and experience of some of the following: Eclipse, Tomcat,
JBOSS,
HTML/JavaScript/CSS, MS SQL Server, Ajax, Apache, Wicket Framework
? Experience with user acceptance and performance testing
methodologies and
documentation
? Law Enforcement, or Public Safety experience helpful
