*Oracle DBA consultant* *Location: Malden, MA* *Duration: 6-12 months contract* *Must interview in person after phone* *Overview:* · Database support and implementations of new Data Warehouse applications in an Oracle 11gr2 RAC Linux environment running on high-end Oracle Exadata database appliances. · Oracle Database upgrades of Data Collection applications from Oracle 10g 64 bit running on Windows 2008 R2 64 bit Intel platforms to Oracle 11gR2 RAC Linux running on the newest Oracle Database Appliances (ODAs). · Continued support of Data Collection applications on Oracle 10g 64 bit running on Windows 2008 R2 64 bit Intel platforms during migration process. · Implementation and support of new initiatives and software such as Grid Control 12c, Oracle Data Integrator and Oracle Data Masking. · SQL Server Database Administration support. · Migrations of SQL Server applications from SQL Server 2008 to SQL Server 2013. *Skills / Attributes Required* 1. Must have Oracle 11gR2, Oracle Grid infrastructure, ASM, RAC experience running under Linux. Must have 2-3 years SQL Server Database Administration. 2. "Power User" level experience with Linux or other Unix O/S. 3. Must have at least 5 years of recent Oracle 10G/11G experience in a RAC environment and overall 10 years Oracle database experience. 4. Expert at SQL Tuning 5. Significant experience troubleshooting complicated database problems 6. Experience with partitioning and other advanced Data Warehouse features. 7. Knowledge or Oracle data masking. 8. Excellent communication Skills. 9. Experience and understanding of Product Life Cycle support and Production Control procedures and practices. 10. Experience with SQL server SSIS and reporting services. *Duties and Responsibilities* 1. Responsible for troubleshooting performance issues from migrating from 10g to 11gr2. Need to be able to work with Oracle support to resolve bugs. 2. Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases. 3. Work with the team to ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases and to ensure high availability and optimum performance. 4. Proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime. 5. Responsible for providing trend analysis to the service management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management 6. Responsible for problem escalation to Oracle Development team and third parties as appropriate. 7. Responsible for implementation and release of database changes as submitted by the development team 8. Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollouts and upgrades. 9. Backup and recovery of Oracle and SQL Server databases and individual schemas and database objects.
