You can charge for a license as long as you follow the other GPL terms
(source etc). But your customer can still distribute the software
freely. But I guess this is only a problem for shrink-wrapped
software: for one-of custom applications, there does not seem to be an
incentive for your customer to give away software that they paid money
for.
