All right :o)
I have been poking at this javascript code. I'm somewhat new to javascript and jQuery. Would it work well if the full name only got copied with a "focusout" on the last name field and if the bill and ship name fields are empty?
I'm going to give that a try.

Interesting, I am able to reproduce this error on a vanilla satchmo install. It looks like the basic issue is that the Javascript is always firing and trying to synch the fields. It definitely needs to be made smarter so that this scenario doesn't happen.

I'd expect that the Javascript should only try to synch the fields when they are blank. It shouldn't overwrite any default or existing values.

First, beautiful looking site. I'm a mountain junky myself.

Before you try a fresh install of satchmo, if you can convert back
to the default template (form.html i think?) so that you can know
its an issue, i think it would be a lot quicker and easier for you
than trying to upgrade to satchmo. Just by the sounds of it, it
seems like if this was a real problem, I feel like it would of
gotten noticed very quickly and would have been fixed.

        Hi Dave
Yes, edited the HTML but I think this is a problem with all
satchmo stores that uses the default checkout page javascript.

        For example https://momentskis.com

Put in first name and last name then change the names for bill
        and ship and click submit.
You will see that the names on bill and ship change back to
        first and last name entered.

I'm trying to see if this behavior is the same with a fresh
satchmo install with latest revision but I'm getting "Caught
Exception while rendering: Found a compiled template that is
        incompatible with the deprecated
        `django.template.loader.find_template_source` function."on a
new store I just created with clonesatchmo. This error only
happens to a fresh store, its not happening to the store that
I'm working on even though its using the same django and satchmo.

Seems like something isn't working right with the 'same as
        billing' checkbox.

Have you edited the html or the javascript? Maybe something
        was changed on accident.

If you have edited the templates, try reverting back to the
default template (copy your template else where) and see if
        you still have the issue.

            Hello,

On the checkout page, "Ship to" and "Bill to" gets
updated with "first and last name" and that is convenient
when the "Ship to" and "Bill to" fields are empty.
Unfortunately if the user misses a field, clicks submit
and the page reloads with warnings the "Ship to" name
gets overwritten and the package can be shipped to the
            wrong name.

I could tweak the JavaScript behavior or remove the name
            overwriting/updating.
What is the most usable solution to this problem?

            Thank you
            Orion Vianna.
