Hello, I met Lion on the bus today and was told there were some computer virtuosi affiliated with Saturday House.
The situation: I have a 2008 Toshiba Satellite laptop that has a failed hard drive. Since the computer is still under warranty, I took it to a Toshiba authorized repair place. Their offer is to replace the failed hard drive with a new hard drive and then ship the failed hard drive out to Toshiba headquarters to never be seen again. This would be all fine except for one problem; I didn't back up the hard drive. Even though the computer technician says the hard drive data can't be recovered, I know otherwise. The hard drive spins enough to boot up the Toshiba welcome screen, but after that it stops. I know there are forensic techniques that are employed in situations similar to this. Does anyone know how this data can be recovered or have the means to do this? The repair shop is giving me 5 days with the failed hard drive before I have to turn it in. Help!!! -Katja --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Website: http://saturdayhouse.org/ Post: [email protected] Unsubscribe: [email protected] -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
