SATURDAY HOUSE!
TWO ANNOUNCEMENTS (and some questions...):
I. "Anyone have a space for Saturday?"
II. Permanent Space: Status Update
III. Questions about NFP/501-3c's
I. "Anyone have a space for Saturday?"
First, my apologies: I've dropped the ball. Unless someone can
spontaneously grant us a location for Saturday, we do not have a
location this Saturday. We were going to go hiking, but I didn't
reconnect with organizers quickly enough.
Lesson Learned: I need a clearly understood and commited location
for the next two weeks, at all times.
If anyone can volunteer a location for Saturday House for this
Saturday or the following Saturday, please let me know ASAP:
206.427.2545, or post to the list.
If anyone knows fun activities or parties this Saturday, please post
them to the list..!
II. PERMANENT SPACE
"The Seattle Creative Commons"
(code-name only, will be changed)
For the last month, I've been involved in meetings every Monday for
the development of a new space.
The vision is of a place modelled after Bucketworks: A place where
multiple disciplines act with and besides each other, sharing
talents and tools, to extraordinary effect. Please look through the
Bucketworks website, if you haven't already:
http://bucketworks.org/
My plan is for this to be the place where Saturday House meets every
Saturday.
People who've been consistently working on it include:
* Willow Bloo (Seattle Transhumanist group lead,)
* Ben Dobies (film man, of Dead Gentlemen Productions
http://www.deadgentlemen.com/ ),
* Rob (whom I do not know so well),
* Baron (whom I do not know so well),
* and myself (Saturday House.)
There are several others who have attended meetings and are
enthusiastic about the project. Notes (and full audio) from
meetings are available on the Seattle Transhumanists wiki.

We have a strategy by which we may get us a place within 2 months
(August,) and a longer term strategy that would get us a place
within 4 months (October.)
III. Questions about NFP/501-3c's.
As part of the space effort, we have some open questions. If anyone
could contact me with answers, it would be greatly appreciated.
* Does anyone know of a Not-For-Profit (NFP) umbrella organization
that the Seattle Creative Commons or Saturday House could be
embodied by?
We'd like to get a bank account, and an NFP for space donors to
name when they issue their write-offs on warehouse space.
* Can For-Profit ventures operate within space owned by an NFP?
For example, if people want to start a business from within the
Seattle Creative Commons' space, how does that work out?
Thanks, all!
And again: Please let us know if you know of an event this weekend,
or if your space is available this weekend or next weekend.
