Hi there, My thought about this patch is that it shouldn't change anything, in good or bad. Off the top of my head, your problem makes me think that maybe the download of the playlist failed because of a timeout... then I wonder how often / when liquidsoap tries to re-download in that case. Sorry, no time for experimenting around that.
