Hmm ok then, although I am not sure I followed everything that was
going on.. :-)

As for the debian package, the coming beta2 package will have very
interesting features for you (and others):
 * Optional support of alsa, oss, jack, etc.. through plugin packages
 * Dynamic loading of lame and aacplus encoders without recompiling
through the installation of a package from debian-multimedia or
directly by compile ocaml-{lame,aacplus} from source.

It should be coming soooon!! (Actually, a test package is already in
debian experimental..)
