Yes initialy , using 0.92 ubuntu package I'd set this variable because I'd some trouble whith flac and wav files. It is when I upgrade to 1.0 (svn, 2, and 3..) I'd observe that all my streams crash on my icecast server (3 in mp3/128kbs and a Ogg/flac via an Icecast)
