What are you using to push the audio to Liquidsoap? Are you using a
configuration file in /etc/liquidsoap/ ?

You can find up-to-date Liquidsoap binaries for Debian and Ubuntu in the
Sourcefabric repo:

http://apt.sourcefabric.org/

Latest test versions are uploaded here:

http://apt.sourcefabric.org/misc/

You may find these packages more convenient than building from source
for each release.

To get rid of the old distro versions of files entirely, you can do:

sudo apt-get purge liquidsoap

This command should leave your locally installed binary intact.

Cheers!
