What does that mean?
If I want to build a farm with an app role and mysql role with micro
instance based on ubuntu 10.04 I need to select EBS as storage for
both roles in order to let it work?

Hello Hareem,
Due to EC2 limitation, micro instances can be launched ONLY on EBS
based instances (where root device partition is on EBS volume). So
you have 2 options:
1. Use CentOS Scalr shared roles. (They are EBS based)
2. Import non-scalr EBS based AMI to scalr using this manual:
http://wiki.scalr.net/How_to.../Import_a_non_Scalr_server

Can someone please advise how to properly launch micro instances. I
tried building a new farm and selected the micro instance. I keep
getting error saying s3-backed ami cannot be used for micro
instances.
Even tough i have selected the ami to use ebs drive on / at the time
of boot.
Please advise. Any help is greatly appreciated.
