Absolutely. I found that it was a lot easier to run Windows on linux in a VM than try to run linux in a VM on Windows. The other alternatives like cygwin or colinux that allow you to put linux tools on your Windows system proved fultile. It's tough to get a full linux environment running on Windows. It also rasies the question, "this doesn't work, is it the network or my tool?".
