It's possible I missed that. I really need to set all this up myself and
test it.

I couldn't see a way to do this on the demo site. Just so it's clear, I
logged in with teacher001 and used the "attendance" links within the
calendar. I'm using firefox on linux.

Heh, twice! I'm sure a school will want to continue with its existing
practices but in many ways I don't see any difference between "roll-call"
and an ordinary class attendance. I guess it's really just that
"roll-call" would be more used in terms of reports, ie is that student
present today but I suspect that's just a residue of the inconvenience of
paper-based attendance.

I might explain the roles used in some Irish schools in case it's helpful:

1. Certain teachers are assigned as form teachers for a single class of
students. They then call the roll for those students first thing in the
morning (as well as looking after some other disciplinary issues, etc).

2. If students are late for roll call, they must then report to the House
Master before going to class. The house master (being something of an
ogre) may then take the opportunity to berate the student for their
tardiness. He is generally the only person who adds lates to the roll.

This is certainly not the case in every school, but I think it's a fairly
common one.

That would be very helpful. I also need to look at how to script
population of the data if you can point me to some good docs or examples on
that. We're working on getting reports to produce CSVs from the existing
MIS.

Many thanks,
Gavin
