We've been working on the demographics user interface, and we have a few
points that require feedback (if not from anyone else, at least from Tom
:), so I'm asking them here.
If you want to see what I'm talking about, please browse to your
schooltool instance (recent checkout) and go to /persons/table.html
This shows the table-driven UI for schooltool demographics, not yet
hooked up to the main UI. You can also go to /persons/search.html to see
the catalog-driven search interface.
We'll be hooking up these interfaces later this week so that you see
directly them if you browse to /persons/. We also envision a UI like
this for other screens in schooltool where one should want to browse or
search for something.
Search screen
-------------
The search screen right now only allows full-text search in the fullname
of a user (try *Al* for wildcard search to find anyone with 'Al' in
their name, for instance). Searching in other fields attached to people
should also be useful. Please let us know which ones should be in the
advanced search screen? Which one should be included as full-text for
the full-text search? What are typical search tasks someone would need
to perform?
Columns in browse and search screen
-----------------------------------
Both the table.html and search.html show batched screens for browsing
persons. We show a number of columns now (which are sortable; click on
the column headings). Let us know which columns you'd like to show up,
and which ones you'd like to be sortable.
add form
--------
We're currently revising the "add person" form. What would be convenient
to have in it? Should, say, gender selection show up? Ethnicities? and
so on.
