Thanks, Pascal. I will compile it when I get home to my machine. Incidentally,
I temporarily solved the problem by downloading the "admin-free" Windows
version on a memory stick and running scidt on the database from there.
Curiously, scidt is included in this Windows version.
Thanks both for the reply and for the great work you have done carrying on the
project. I am a Mac user and scid is the best chess database program available
for Mac/Unix.
