I came across the following open source utility: CBUtils available
fromftp://ftp.pitt.edu/group/student-activities/chess/UTIL/cbu_src.zip . Binary
available
fromftp://ftp.pitt.edu/group/student-activities/chess/UTIL/cbu_bin.zip .
Ofcourse, the binaries are for windows. However, the make file should compile
well on linuxI think. The file names are all capitalized, I will try to see if
it works on other platforms.
Recently, I converted the mega 2008 database to scid. It was a very very
painful procedure:
1. Convert CBH database to CBF.
2. Use chess assistant to split CBF file into 2 pgns.
3. Import PGNs one by one into scid.
Remarkably, using chessbase in step 2 fails scid import in step 3. Scid returns
a core dump - bus error in that case.
If we have a way to directly import (and possibly export CBF) from/to Scid,
then compatibility with chessbase be much easier.
I wanted to see what others think about CBF import/export within Scid.
