Hi,
I played a few minutes with Polyglot and configured Toga 1.2.1a to be
handled as a xboard engine. In this position
r7/p1p2pk1/1p6/4qpp1/2PP4/P3R3/2P3PP/6K1 w KQkq - 0 1
where the queen must be recaptured (!) I get this output :
Depth: 12 Nodes: 9106K (765 kn/s)
Score: -99.88 Time: 11.91 seconds
Rf3 Qxd4+ Kf1 Qd1+ Kf2 Re8 Rxf5 Qe1+ Kf3 Re3+ Kg4 Qh4#
I checked with other xboard engines (Crafty, Phalanx) and they capture the
queen ... Of course all UCI engines work well. So using Polyglot I get an
error : I would personaly avoid this protocol interface ;-)
Using Toga UCI and Toga with Polyglot gives different results, and the
output from Toga UCI is very close to Rybka's where outputs with Polyglot
are really different and *seems* inferior (I did not do much research).
I don't know where lies the problem between UCI / xboard / Polyglot, but I
tend to think the bug is not in Scid's code and that Polyglot should be
avoided (as it is useless with Scid now).
