Usually, a focus issue only. The board window needs to have the focus
for keyboard input to work.
Now, it is easy to set the focus in classical mode and you see where it
is all the time. To check if there is another issue it might be good to
check in this mode. (Options / Windows / Dock windows OFF=unhooked).
At the last time I checked docked mode I think there was no visual
feedback on which docklet has the focus at the moment, and in all this
docking stuff the concept of focus doesn't translate that well either.
In case you use this mode I think clicking on the boards tab first
should set it right.
