I was able to get serious game to work as well. It is interesting especially to 
play against a club player (prodeo simulating club player).

The write permissions are needed, because prodeo writes to a debug.txt in the 
same folder. There should be a way to disable this (did not check yet).

This works for me in my first test, at least if I put ProDeo in a directory 
where I have write permissions. (Say unzipping the archive in ~/.scid). I was 
not successful to install it as root in /opt/chess/DOS/ProDeo16 and run it from

I would call ProDeo's UCI support: "inspired by UCI" but surely not compliant ;)
