I am running Fedora-20 with systemd on an embedded ARM machine and memory use is comparable with similar sized embedded Intel machines running SL4,5 and 6 (no systemd). (CPU use is 0 in all cases). I do confirm that systemd is better documented and is easier to manage compared to the SL6 kludged combination of SYSV init and upstart init. Specifically, X11 was much simpler to disable, login on /dev/ttyS0 was much simpler to enable. I do confirm the major bloat in gnome & co. Even on big machines it is almost bad enough to make me go back to twm+rxvt. -- Konstantin Olchanski Data Acquisition Systems: The Bytes Must Flow!
