There are also dependency issues with apr-devel on SL-4.
apr-devel-0.9.4-24.9.el4_8.2.x86_64.rpm
Requires: gcc = 3.4.4
apr-devel-0.9.4-24.9.el4_8.2.i386.rpm
Requires: gcc = 3.4.5
However, up to date SL-4 systems have gcc-3.4.6-10 .
