"A History of Violence" was hot. Maria Bello is a revelation as Viggo Mortensen's wife. "History" is easily Cronenberg's most mature motion picture, and I have been a fan since the late seventies when he was putting out high class trash like "Rabid" (who could forget former porn star Marilyn Chambers as a young woman with an anus-like orifice underneath her armpit from which a phallus-like stinger "bites" her victims, transforming them into rabid zombie-like creatures who spread their rabid disease, causing the world to fall into apocalyptic chaos?). I get misty-eyed just thinking about it.
