I held on for a solid year trying to watch Mutant X, mostly because it aired on
Saturday afternoons here in Atlanta. Typically I get up early on Saturdays, do
two hours of aerobic weighlifting and yoga at the gym, take my wife to brunch,
run errands, maybe work in the yard. Then I come in around 4 pm to chill for a
couple of hours before going back out in the evening. I love being able to lie
on the couch and watch some TV, then take a nap. That's especially true in the
cool and cold fall and winter days that are the only times I'm really
comfortable vegging on the couch. Back in the day, there was always a scifi or
fantasy show airing at that time. That before-nap couch time saw me watching
stuff like Hercules, Xena, Vanishing Son, TekWar, Andromeda, Stargate SG-1, the
new Twilight Zone and Outer Limits, TNG and DS9 (when they were more widely
syndicated), X-Files, and, alas, "Mutant X".

I could never figure that show. Took me a while to understand why the hell
Marvel'd even release a show with the same name as of one of their own comic
characters; then, I couldn't why they'd produce such *crap* that was an
obviously inferiour X-Men clone. Got myself angry ever week over all the
Central Casting OC-rejects that were the stars, over the lack of black folk as
main characters (the one brother I can remember had the mutant ability to go
without sleep: he did long haul truck driving for the group!) Week after week I
gave it another chance, thinking it had to get better. And week after week, it
was the same dreck, and my heavy eyes started closing earlier and earlier into
the show, until finally I'd just have time to see the opening credits before
sliding off into slumberland.

I guess I will miss the show after all, if only for the great naps it gave me!

Aw, to each his own! Now, if you start saying you liked "Mutant X" that gawd awful TV series from few years back, we'll have to part ways!
