Is it good fun on the level of "Face Off", or even "The Transporter"?

I pretty much despise Michael Bay and his middle-finger-pointed-at-you method
of throwing overly loud, nerve-searing junk at audiences like too much sugar
given to glassy-eyed kids. I have lamented and cursed movies that he and his
collaborators have done, like "Bad Boys" (laughably bad, and full of cliches),
"Bad Boys 2" (my wife and I almost walked out), Armageddon (over blown crap),
"Pearl Harbour" (maudlin, inaccurate tripe).
I continue to be puzzled why people support so much of Bay's stuff. Listen, i
get the concept of brain-on-hold fun. I wathc "The Warriors" whenever it airs,
for Chrissake! I get the idea of movies taht are action over acting, such as
the great "Face Off". Love good camp. But Bay's stuff is just awful glitz
that's as thin and unsatisfying as eating day old dried frosting off the top of
a cake, then wondering why you're sick a few minutes later.

Justin, i honestly think that it is good. i went in with no preconceived
notions about it, and just enjoyed a good movie. i enjoyed the story telling,
the way Bay depicted a lot of the Autobots and the Decepticons. so, like i
said, not cause it's popular, but because i thought it was actually good.

Fate.

There's a reason that very few people make the mistake of conflating "popular"
and "good".

Milton, ignore what Augustus said. Just don't see this movie. It will make you
a worse person. Seeing this movie is the moral equivalent of shoplifting a bag
of socks.

Do you hate yourself? If so, go see Transformers. Otherwise, run far away.

Always a good Plan B. I just finished A. Lee Martinez's Monster(awesome
Gaimanesque fun) and I have Warren Fahy's Fragment in addition to some other
things in the to be read pile.

I might finally get to watch Let The Right One In in addition to Blade Runner.
I finally watched Caprica the other night and managed to sit through 3 minutes
of The Spirit before I gave up.
