Agreed. People have taken long voyages before and they didn't have VR systems.
Okay, the sailing ships of old could stop off at whatever island chain or
country was along the way. But as you say, the VR system's broken, people are
getting raped and damn near murdered in there, and they want to keep it on!?
Turn the thing off, do a complete diagnostic, and do something novel like read
books, watch TV/DVD. Hell, for years yet they can simply get entertainment
beamed to them from Earth. A VR system is simply not that critical.

I had problems with this show. I watched it last night and I wanted to love the
show, but like a lot of scifi shows I found it frustrating. First off, the vr
system. If something is wrong with it, you try to fix it. Not just say oh well
and keep using it. That should have been the case in the first 10 minutes of
the show! I am going to give it two more episodes before I give up on it.

I also hate the fake shaky camera! If you are 200 years in the future why do
you have shaky cameras???

I watched as much of it as I could stand. I think you're Big Brother in Space
take was pretty spot on, but at least you could get through an episode of Big
Brother. A futuristic reality show set in space. That should be one of those
things you think in your head and say "OOH, that would be cool" until you say
it out loud. Then you should be like "Maybe not."
