The Kids in our theatre loved it too. But he said he was going to mail him the dvd. If I was going to introduce him to Miyazaki by DVD and not be watching it with him, I would use one of the others like Princess Mononoke. Once he was indoctrinated, I think his mind would be open to a sweet story like Ponyo on DVD

It's definitely more of a sweet film, aimed at younger kids. But that being said, I'd still take a young boy to see it, if for nothing else, to let him appreciate true animation (not the computer generated stuff), and to appreciate a nicely told story. There were lots of men in the theatre where we saw it. Those not with children, like me, were with their wives. A really sweet movie, we both loved it, especially the beautiful Ponya (in both forms), and her sisters. There eyes were so full of joy and love and laughter. And amazing that, at almost two hours, it didn't bore the kids in my theatre--and there were a lot of them! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tracey de Morsella" <tdli...@multiculturaladvantage.com> To: scifinoir2@yahoogroups.com Sent: Sunday, August 16, 2009 12:26:01 PM GMT -05:00 US/Canada Eastern Subject: Ponyo (Hayao Miyazaki} RE: [RE][scifinoir2] Something has gone wrong with "Where the Wild Things Are" Keep in mind, I was with two little girls, six and eight who can be dramatic. They “loooooved it” that being said, the kids in the theatre were young… say 4-8 on average with some older kids. These girls were primed for it. Back when I was sicker and could not go out, I would have them do movie afternoons with me. Some of those afternoons included Kiki’s delivery service, spirited away, howl’s moving castle, Princess Mononoke, Porco Rosso,My Neighbor Totoro, and Whisper of the heart. So there was no way they were going to hate it. I think it might be too sweet for a nine year old boy. If he likes other Miyazaki films he will like it, otherwise, I’m inclined to say perhaps not. I loved it too, though From: scifinoir2@yahoogroups.com [mailto:scifino...@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of Martin Baxter Sent: Sunday, August 16, 2009 9:05 AM To: scifinoir2@yahoogroups.com, Subject: RE: [RE][scifinoir2] Something has gone wrong with "Where the Wild Things Are" Tracey, how did they like the movie itself? Not only do I want to see it for myself, but I want to know if it'll entertain my nine-year-old nephew. I've sent him a few movies, but no anime as yet, and want your gauge on it. ---------[ Received Mail Content ]---------- Subject : RE: [RE][scifinoir2] Something has gone wrong with "Where the Wild Things Are" Date : Sun, 16 Aug 2009 08:46:26 -0700 >From : "Tracey de Morsella" <tdli...@multiculturaladvantage.com> To : <scifinoir2@yahoogroups.com> I took my daughter Kira and her buddy to see Ponyo (Hayao Miyazaki}yesterday and they had a preview of Where the Wild Things Are.
