Looks like an implementation issue, as XPM format doesn't seems to have
such limitation.

It seems the 2 char x pixel icons are not working.

Here you've got an update for those 16x16 and 24x24 icons using 2 chars
per pixel, converted to 1 char per pixel:

I'm still working in the 32x32 set as it seems that most of these are 2
char per pixel.

The small 12x12 ones looks better than I thought, but they are still far
from professional-looking.
