[scintilla] Compiling gtk version on windows

I've just compiled scintilla 1.6 on windows (hoping to use the gtk widget in my app), but I don't get a .a file in the bin directory when I run mingw-make in the win32 directory.  The two .dll files "scintilla.dll" and "scilexer.dll" are created fine, but I need a linkable .a file in order to compile an app.

How can I get a .a file to be compiled?
