You could try UTF-8 encoded Japanese as that runs through different
code.
Looks like CJK support on Windows 9x has decomposed. I no longer use
Windows 9x, so it is up to others to support this if they are interested.

I made a simple Chinese text with different encoding via Notepad "SaveAs".
The following is the testing result.
1, ANSI/Unicode/Unicode Big endian/utf-8 file + SciTE codepage 65001
(unicode): mess display.
2, ANSI file + SciTE codepage 936 (charset+134) + Font Simsun: mess display
3, Unicode/Unicode Big endian file + SciTE codepage 936 (charset+134) +
Font Simsun: part display OK, part mess display
4, Utf-8 file + SciTE codepage 936 (charset+134) + Font Simsun: all display
OK
It seems that something is wrong with utf-8/DBCS support with Scintilla
v1.66.
And Neil, can I found earlier version of Scintilla in CVS or elsewhere?
