Hi Neil,

Your suggestion of using a margin click to select the entire folded region
works, but you loose the ability to click in the margin and then drag to
select lines. This would be tedious (though I guess not impossible) to
implement as we would have to capture the mouse, and handle mouse moves and
mouse ups and deactivations... yuk.

It really feels like selection of a folded region needs to be handled by
Scintilla itself if this is to be useful... unless you can see a way around
this. I notice that the MS .Net 2005 IDE adds a mark to the end of the line
of a folded section that activates a call tip holding the folded code...,
but this serves as something to be selected so that if you do a margin
click, you are clearly selecting the entire folded section.

What do you think about making the selection of a folded region part of
Scintilla? I cannot see it breaking anyones code as this can only be
instigated by the user, and it feels to me to be what the user would expect
to happen. Also, as the caret would clearly be blinking on the next line for
s single selection, this is visually different from swiping the line, so
that helps to avoid confusion.

If you would consider a patch for this, can you suggest where it would go?

Yours hopefully,

Greg Smith
