Hmmm - if Neil (or others) wants to confirm that answering this class of
posts is essentially useless, I can quit. Wow. What will I do with all
the time I save? :)
If there are answers on the mailing list then I can copy them to the
tracker. I don't know PHP so could go searching through manuals for the
answer but probably wouldn't so the item would be marked "I won't be
working on this" or similar.
With a mailing list multiple people read each message and once one
has answered then others can see that there is no need to do so again.
Answering on the tracker is less visible so there can be an extra answer
on the mailing list. The tracker could be made more visible by
forwarding changed tracker items to the mailing list as well (other
projects do this, I think) but because they are not directly to the list
they go to moderation so often won't turn up for half a day.
Well, somehow, having the answers on the list would be useful. After
all, the initial message is the start of a dialogue but we don't see its
development unless we take the steps of going to SF.
Sometime, I am tempted to reply on both places, because the answer can
be of general interest, but I am reluctant to duplicate info.
If Neil is ready to copy relevant info to bug tracker, then my remark is
void... :-)
Of course, Robert, your input is always welcome! ;-)
