Hello is there any possibility (using the python lexer for example)
to highlight matching braces even in strings?

Just change this property:
# Braces are only matched in operator style
braces.python.style=10

to the style you want.
Alas, I fear this disables the matching in expressions...
If you set the property to 0 (or just commented out), braces at matched everywhere (an under-documented feature), which can lead to false positives (opening brace in expression matching a closing brace in string).

In a lexer I wrote, (soft) braces have a style and parenthesis have another, which means, I think, that I can have this functionality only for one of them. It would be cool to be able to specify a list of styles in which matching work, like:

  braces.python.style=10,3,4

with a probable restriction that a brace in one style cannot match one in another style.
Or just let the mode 0 match anywhere with the same restriction...
