But that is not the behaviour I see. When I release a project without <modules/>, the pom.xml gets updated to SNAPSHOT again. For my testproject with <modules/>, this does not happen. Not in the parent and not in any of the child modules.

when you start a new version, all sub-components start with a new version too.

we'll can perhaps add an option that won't update versions.
