No, right now Perforce would only update the Perforce view directory. Are update and checkout only used to checkout/update to a temp working directory? I would assume so given that you should NEVER overwrite anything in the user's main source location (because unexpected change is bad). If so, I can change the update command to work just how I changed the checkout command yesterday.
