I was saddened to hear of Bruce's passing today, after having been away from e-mail for a few days.  Bruce was very generous to me numerous times on and off list with helpful answers to querys, and, as has been pointed out, he could be relied on not only for intial responses, but for follow-ups as well as his investigations deepened.   "Private scholar" or not, I regard his work as impeccable, and invaluable to me and anyone with an interest in traditional music.  I will miss reading his posts very much.   Regards, Andrew Kuntz
